How to Move a Business Place

Please forgive me, but until this week I was not familiar with Waze. The reason I am here is that my wife relocated her business in March of this year and she had a customer come in this week reporting that Waze indicates that her location is at the old address.

I did some searching about the map editor, and navigated to the old location and I see that there is a place there that still marks her business at the old site. Now I found this post Delete a Place which describes a move greater than 0.25 miles, but I am not exactly in the same conditions mentioned in the post.

The address listed in the External Providers field for the place marker at the old address is the address of the new location. So that tells me that Waze is pulling the current location properly from Google My Business. Does this mean that I simply need to take .25 mile baby steps of moving and saving the place until I reach her new place that is 1 mile away and that I can skip trying to mark the place as closed in Google per step 3 since I can see the Place address is the correct address?

Also, if I understand how map editing works, I cannot make this change until I take my phone with the newly installed Waze app and drive to her location so that Waze knows that I have been there. Is that a correct understanding?

That process sounds straight forward enough. I was just a little concerned about the addresses not being in sync at the old place and wanted to make sure I was not performing a destructive, irrecoverable operation.

Hi John,

I tried, but I do not have edit rights to delete the old place, so I would appreciate it if you would execute the delete.

I performed the steps to add the new place (which picked up the Google My Business data just fine), but I was prohibited from saving since I have not driven by the location as I just installed the Waze app a couple hours ago. I am heading to the location tomorrow to help my wife with some odds and ends, so after I drive there I will then create the new place. It looks like the system gives standing to those that add data, so it will be good for me to take care of that aspect.

Hi John,

I added the new place. I did it via the app, and after I took the picture, it looked like the place was over the street corner based on the position on the app map, so I tried to adjust it to the middle of the north side of the building, but now that I see the building view in the map editor, I discovered that I moved the place to the parking lot. After you approve the initial entry, I will move the point over the north end of the building on the west side of the parking lot.

I would like to move my buissness on waze as well as i need to diagram the parking lot so people are directed in...

Can anyone help?

If you can provide us details of old location and new location (including full address), we can look at this for you.

You should be ok, If you delete the old place and add the new one in WME (if you have edit rights) or by using the app to add it, I can check you work and make sure it is complete.

If you don't have edit rights, I can add the place for you.
