Great news! Setting a different start point is now available in Waze. Install the latest app version to check it out.

    Hallo liebes Waze Team

Es wäre super wenn es eine Möglichkeit gäbe einen anderen Startpunkt in der IOS Version auswählen zu können als nur den eigenen Standort.

Can set the starting point ourself, the starting point does not have to be the current location. This will make it easier for us to query

I am not sure at which version this ux changed, and I haven't found the time to check it, but I guess it's minor :)
The "set start point, report a problem etc" menu is no longer easily accessible for "quick" locations which are tagged as "history"(already visited).
Instead, it has to be long clicked -> info, and only then this "more" menu appears.(which has to be clicked once more..)
This menu used to be easily accessed/navigated to, by 2 clicks, and now it is more like 4, and so along with this, long tapping while sitting in a car, getting ready to go, is neither ergonomic nor easy, and so I would classify it as a bad user experience. The menu is suggested/prompted more easily only for new locations, after searching and clicking on them.
It is also worth noting that although being a mobile developer, it took me a while to understand that a new long click gesture has been introduced. (I can't recall a feature opt-in/announcement for this one)
I understand the behavioural change/need of easily getting navigation routes on first click on a history location, but I can't see the reasoning for removing the old-integrated menu from there.

1 ) At present changing start point is very complicated. You should have clear space on top like mapquest. We can get auto option to take start point as current location or can change manually.
    2) stop points are not showing total time A to B to C location. A to B is showing time. Not B to C time. And need to show total time like A to B to C. Total time and miles for each trip and total trip.

Explain how? I don't see a starting point option anywhere... I just downloaded latest version.

I want to plan route between different points.
Waze always wants to plan from current location for an app with so much potential this renders it virtually useless
What a basic error in a navigation system

Sooo frustrating. Internet searches indicate someone needs to address this. I'm surprised this has been overlooked for so long and continues to be.

Sometimes you want to know the route and timing for a drive from point B to point C, even though you are still at point A.

As an example, you and your partner want to go to a new restaurant for dinner, so you need the route from your home to this new place. But you are still at work, and want to plan the trip so you know when to leave home. So you put in your home address as the start point and the new restaurant address as the destination.

Although you can put this information into Waze, if you go to change anything about the drive, Waze automatically and instantly changes the start point to your current location.

To return to the example, say you want to change the arrival time at the restaurant because your reservation has changed. The minute you open up the planned drive, it changes the start point to your current, work location. This is annoying.

Waze claims that the app is supposed to do this. But what if Waze allowed you to choose whether to change the start location to your current location or keep the original one?

Waze already does something like this: if you have already started drive, and you search for a new address, Waze will ask you if you want to add it as a stop, start a new drive, or cancel.

Similarly, in our example, the app can give you the option of keeping the original start point, changing to your current location, or canceling the change.

This would make Waze a more useful (and friendlier!) app.

Google Maps has this feature, I don't want to switch between Waze and Google Maps.
Love to see this in our Waze, to plan the different trip with different from and to locations

I am used to Google maps and want to try waze, I will send you suggestions when I need a feature waze doesn't have

Today :make plan with starting point from somewhere else .

Now, waze only has itinerary from my actual position to go somewhere else. But can't calculate itinerary from somewhere else back to where I am actually.

ADD AN OPTION TO CHANGE YOUR START POINT

WAZE needs quick update to solve prob. of starting from another location or users will find another help source.

  • Sa Esneault commented · · Report

My attempts to set a different “start point” than my present location only works if I enter an address that I haven’t previously used WAZE to navigate to. If I try to use a Favorite, it won’t display the 3 dots that are needed to be able to select that location as a “start point”. This needs to be fixed.
